Derek Manson
International casting specialist, instructor and fly fishing guide
Derek's passion for fly fishing began in 1986 when he first learnt to fish in Dullstroom. A stint working at the historic Farlow's of Pall Mall in the UK kickstarted his career. After obtaining his fly-casting teaching certificate (STANIC), Derek was invited to join the Cain Rod Company on the Wyle in Wiltshire, where he learnt to build split cane rods, and guided tours on the Wyle, Test and Itchen rivers. He joined Nervous Waters in Argentina on the Rio Gallegos, guiding for sea-run brown trout. A guiding position on the famed Ponoi River in Russia followed, where Derek went on to become the head guide. After six back-to-back seasons in Russia and Argentina, Derek returned to South Africa. He has fished and guided in Seychelles, Norway, Scotland, Alaska, Australia, Mozambique and on the Zambezi River.

Fly fishing enthusiast and host
David's first passion is fly fishing, and he has fished dozens of thrilling destinations. He ranks Zambia as his top African destination and Argentina as his favourite fishing spot abroad. David will fish anywhere, any time, and has fulfilled one of his life-long dreams of catching a 20lb sea run brown trout on his last trip to Argentina. When he doesn't have a rod and reel in his hand, you'll find David researching new fishing destinations or planning the trip logistics for our next exciting adventure.
